Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

★★★☆☆

Personally is my least favorite so far.. projected bad, and executed even worse! The game starts at the Pensieve where you have to choose your level, and every once in a while you’ll unblock some further areas by completing the previous one.

What I don’t like is that the game doesn’t have a logical connection in the middle.. One minute you’re at Hogwarts and one second later you’re in the Dark Forest, doing absolutely NOTHING.

In the game you’ll have to collect beans which will allow you to buy special power-up cards for Harry, Ron and Hermione. That’s right in this game you will have the opportunity to play as one of the Golden Trio, but not in the same mode of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

As you play along the other two will help you in your task, and collect beans as well. To defeat some creatures, or to move some objects you’ll have to collaborate with them. When you select you character pay attention to the cards you are equipping they with, as some cards will help you in some tasks rather than others.

Each level is composed by several parts, and every time you complete a level you unblock a part of it. This means that in order to complete the whole, you have to replay the same level all over again for some times. You’ll see it is completed because it will appear in the principal menu.

Unblocking parts of the levels allow you to collect everything you need to reach the 100% of the games, which are:

  • -Mini Triwizard Shields – 10 to collect during the level
  • -Triwizard Shields – When you catch it the level ends (so be careful to walk through it only when you’ve done everything you wanted to.)
  • -Dark Detectors
  • -Vanishing Cards – (Really hard to catch , if they vanish you have to reload the level)
  • -Dragon Statue
  • -Mushroom
  • -Taps – They get easily concealed with the surroundings, pay attention.
  • -Shovels

And yes if you’re wondering, you need to face the Triward Tasks :

1st Task

In the first task you’ll have to flee from the dragon, flying on your broom through a designed path. If you manage to catch the blue circles you’ll increase your speed. The faster you reach the end, the higher will be your score.

2nd Task

In the 2nd task you’ll have to go through the Dark Lake to find Ron, here too you’ll have booster to increase your speed. Here and there you’ll have to stun mermaids, and grindylows. About the mermaids in particular, be careful if you don’t stun them in time, they’ll eat your Gillyweed.

Follow the Grindylows, and try to catch all the Gillyweeds to reach the end in the shortest time possible. (Honestly this one is the one that I troubled the most with).

Lastly, try to find the road in the maze in the shortest time possible to reach the cup. Watch out for the ramping plants.

After the cup you’ll have to face Voldemort, try to defeat him using what you find around in the cemetery.

In conclusion, what I didn’t like about this game is the confusion.. it’s confusionary, you jump from a level to another without much of a connection. The story of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is so cool, it deserved way better. Let me know in the comment if you’ve played (or if you will), and if you liked it!

Anyway don’t desperate because you need to brace yourself fore a really quality jump, and I wasn’t ready either.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Rating ★★★★★

Well, if normally you could say that games don’t get better, Harry Potter for sure doesn’t stand by this rule.

This games is different from the ithers because finally Hermione and Ron come along, in fact in some parts of the game you’ll be Hermione, in others Ron, and in others again Harry.

As always it could not have the usual challgenge times, which this time are Carpe Retractum, Glacious and Lapifors/Draconifors, during which you’ll have to collect Shields instead of stars, and if you manage to collect them all, you’ll gain access to the Bean Bonus Room.

In this game other than Beans you’ll have the chance to collect Pumpkin Pasties, and Cauldron Cakes which are far more valuable than beans. All of this you will need in Fred and George’s shop, where you can buy Wizard cards, Potrait Passwords, and much more.

The passwords you’ll get from Fred and George shop you’ll need them to explore the Hogwarts portraits. This is actually the first game where along with the story you have a lot of side-quests which will allow you to look around.

Hippogryff challenge at Hagrid’s.

Each side quest will give you some sort of reward, which could be more Pumpink Pasties or Cauldron Cakes or: Wizard Cards.

Pixie challenges in the gardens.

This time the Wizard cards will be divided into sets, based on type of Wizards or Creatures they represent. You’ll win the game only if you manage to complete all the sets.

The Wizard cards can be hidden everywhere around the castle, look literally everywhere, up, down, behind portraits, in classes, in the gardens, talk to students, and win every challenge.

When you’ll reach all the sets completed and the blue sets with 14/15 cards collected, go to Fred and George’s shop buy the last card, and win the game!

Really good made, graphic improved again, honestly one the funniest I’ve ever played!!

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

Rating ★★★★★

The game starts with the story as always, with you in Diagon Alley together with Ron and Hermione, it has been (at least by me) immensly appreciated that the story course has followed the book’s.

Graphic considerably improved, but mostly preserved, you’re dressed the same and look the same. The characters are complete, and you meet everyone you shoul meet in your second year at Hogwarts, class 1991-1992.

In class you’ll no longer have to trace the spell figure with mouse, but you’ll use arrow keys instead. I’m not very sure how I feel about this change, it’s simpler of course and even the youngest can have fun easily, but for sure the figure to be traced resembled the most the swinging wand.

After every class you’ll have to face the corresponding challenge, here you’ll still have the Challenge Stars to collect, and more you’ll have to do it in the least time as possible, the more time you spare the more House Points you’ll collect.

House points you’ll actually need this time!! Once a week Dumbledore will host the House Point Ceremony, in which you’ll see how your Hogwarts House is going and how many House Points you collected. You’ll actually will be competing with Slytherin this time, so the first position is not something decided by the AR. If you’ll find yourself in the first position you’ll get the chance to access the Beans Room, where you’ll have 1 minute to collect the more Beans you can.

Beans you’ll need to collect all the Wizard Cards, since here the game is subdivided this way:

  • Golden Cards
  • Silver Cards
  • Bronze Cards

Some you’ll find during classes, games exc, the others you’ll have to trade them with the other students around Hogwarts.

PLEASE NOTE: be sure to trade all the cards possible before completing the final task (which is going into the Chamber of Secrets), otherwise you’ll find Hogwarts empthy and it will be no longer possible for you trade.

Another way you have to collect Beans is to duel in the Duellant Club, where you’ll bet a number of Beans, and if you win you’ll win yours back and the opponent’s.

Collecting all the Cards (especially the Silver ones), will guarantee you the access to another Special Challenge which will allow you to collect all the Gold Cards.

You’ll collect them through a special Time Challenge, but don’t worry if you don’t manage to catch them all at the first time you can re-try as many times as you want, and you won’t even loose the ones you already collected.

As always at the end of the Game if you visit the special Gallery with the Gold Cards, you’ll rewarded with a special one.

For sure the First One remain a classic, but this game is very well done, the upgrades are amazing, and for those (like me), who love the old-school game it’s perfect! Enjoable, and faithful to books!

Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone

Rating: ★★★★★

The purpouse of the game just like in the film is to prevent Quirrel to steal the Philosopher Stone. You’ll attend classes and learn spells including: Flipendo, Incendio, Wingardium Leviosa, Wiggenweld Potion, Lumos.

To learn the spell you’ll have to trace the figure with the mouse, which is really difficult the first time you’re gonna try, so don’t get fussy if you don’t get it straight away. The more figure you manage to trace, out of four, the more House Points you’ll collect.

After each lesson you’ll attend a challenge centred only on the spell you just learned, during which you’ll become familiar with the spell and collect Challenge Stars (it’s not compulsory, but recommended you’ll get more House Points).

The more Challenge Stars you’ll collect, the more House Points you’ll be rewarded.

When you’ll first arrive to Hogwarts you’ll have Fred and George Weasley who’ll guide you through the tutorial to learn the control keys.

Don’t worry if it seems that Slytherin is always ahead of you, that’s completely normal! Just like in the film… 😉

During the game you can collect Famous Witches and Wizard Cards, you can either find them during the Class Challenges, around the Castle but most importantly from Fred and George.

Every now and then Fred and George will appear to you and ask you 25 beans, make sure to have them because they’ll give you in exchange a Famous Wizard Card.

If you collect them all at the end of the game you’ll be rewarded with a Special and Extra Card.

At the end of the game you’ll have to face all the challenges protecting the Stone, including a few which weren’t in the film. Until you reach the final room with Voldemort himself.

There are more tips and hint I could give you, but personally I did like to play and play again until I found everything I needed to find by myself. But let me know down in the comments if you want to know something, if you want some advices.

One last thing, in this first game once you advance to the next part, you cannot go back, so be sure to find everything before moving on, don’t rush and take your time. Parchment pages will appear before every “level” telling you everything that’s hidden, and what you need to do!

Watch out for the Cholocate Frogs! 😏
