Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes

Located at numer 93 of Dragon Alley, is the shop of Fred and George Weasley. While still student at Hogwarts they started to have the idea of developing a serie of practical jokes to sell. They started developing their jokes at the Burrow in their room, through an Owl Post correspondency, even if Mrs. Weasley tried hardly to avert them from their goal, since she didn’t agree with this dream, she wished instead they had a job at the Ministry like their father. Even if she continued to burn their orders, they didn’t give up, at the Quidditch World Cup they bet all their life’s savings with Ludo Bagman, who lost, but paid them with Leprechauns’s gold, which vanished after a few hours. They eventually got the money for the shop from Harry Potter, who won the Triwizards Tournament but after Cedric Diggory didn’t enjoy the won.

During their seventh year at Hogwarts they started testing some of their products on students, mainly first-years, under the disagreeing eyes of the Prefect Hermione Granger. They used  Weasleys’ Wildfire Whiz-bangs and Portable Swamp on school to free Hogwarts from Umbridge’s Tyranny. The twins right after set off on their broom, making swear Peeves to give her trouble, and swore to every student who wished to buy their products to use them against her a discount.

Argus Filch banned all of Fred and George’s products from Hogwarts in 1996. However after they opened Weasley Wizard Wheezes employing a shop assistant named Verity, they did start selling love potions by Owl Order disguised as cough potions, as Argus Filch couldn’t recognise one potion from the other. They also intended to buy Zonko’s Joke Shop in Hogsmeade in order to extend their business. The twins were strict with their businesses, as they threatened a boy for attempted shoplifting and charged their younger brother Ron full price for all the products. However, they allowed Harry to take anything he wanted, free of charge, which was because of his being their investor. They also accepted patronage from Draco Malfoy (whom they hated), allowing him to buy Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, which he would use against Dumbledore’s Army later, something Ron would resent the twins for. Their mother, despite not initially approving their dream, was glad to see they managed to make such success and joy in their career.

Although much of their products were meant for fun and games, when the Ministry bought 500 Shield Hats for staff protection, the twins decided to expand their products to a more serious line of Defence Against the Dark Arts, as many bureaucratic employees could not cast so much as a decent Shield Charm. They also made a mockery of Lord Voldemort by placing one of their product’s slogan on the front window: U-No-Poo, which led their mother to fear for their lives, but Ron to laugh.
